I watched Jersey Girl yesterday..

It was actually not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I didn’t really know anything about it and I was expecting it to be all about a woman being womanly and other stuff that women do in rom-coms (e.g. hate men, love men, cry over men, win men back etc.). It was pretty average to be honest, as most rom-coms are, but in saying that, it was at the better end of the rom-com list and quite heart warming. Ben Affleck was a bit shit, but he always is. I don’t really know what it is about him, he just always seems to give the impression that he thinks he’s a bit too good to put too much effort into acting. He’s always a bit grumpy and serious about things, like he wouldn’t be any fun to hang out with. It was vaguely funny in places, but not hilarious and it was very moving in places but not nearly tear jerking and of course, there was the essential cameo from MAARRRTTT DAAYYYMOOOONN (Matt Daimon)). Very watchable and perfect for an easy nights watching..

I have just finished watching Law Abiding Citizen..

Bah. I was really expecting this film to be the tits! Like it would be a bit like the Saw films, but not quite as dark and moody and gory and shit. I thought it was going to be really clever but it just wasn’t. The main guy, Gerard Butler, was pretty good in it (surprisingly good, actually, seeing as he’s set up camp in rom-com city) but everybody else was just a bit lame (for lack of a better word) and it just felt all a bit crap. Like.. like they’d thought of a really good idea but just couldn’t be bothered to do it all properly. The storyline was pretty good really, it was all complicated and a bit twisty-turny, but not really enough for it to be great. After the first few surprises it all got a bit samey..

A bit disappointing, but not utterly pants. Still worth the watch, I say!

Tonight, I am drinking a slightly warm beer (but slightly warm beer is better than no beer, I guess) and trying to get an essay done for tomorrow morning. It’s half eleven and I’m damn tired. Would much rather just be in comfy bed watching Digimon…
